The Role
As a Trainee Investment Banker, you will work alongside experienced bankers and analysts on live transactions, gaining first-hand exposure to deal processes, valuation methods, and financial strategy. The role involves a blend of analytical work, research, and client support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and reviewing financial models used for company valuation and transaction analysis
- Conduct industry research and market mapping to support client advisory work
- Prepare investment presentations, pitch materials, and reports for senior team members
- Support due diligence and transaction execution across M&A and fundraising projects
- Contribute to financial analysis, forecasting, and documentation preparation
- Collaborate with teams across corporate finance, equity research, and transaction services
The Candidate
- No degree required; however, a strong interest in finance, investments, or business is essential
- Previous experience or coursework in finance, accounting, or business (formal or self-taught) is advantageous
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in Excel and basic financial modelling
- Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail
- Highly motivated with the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Eager to learn, adaptable, and committed to long-term career development in investment banking
- As investment banking operates within one of the most heavily regulated areas of the financial sector, a sound understanding of UK financial markets, including the regulatory frameworks governed by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority, is essential.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary: £33,000 – £46,000 per annum (DOE)
- Comprehensive investment banking training and mentoring from senior professionals
- Exposure to real transactions, clients, and financial modelling from day one
- Hybrid working model (2–3 days in office)
- Fast-track progression towards Analyst and Associate-level roles
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Pension contribution and professional development support
