Our client is a well-established accountancy and financial services firm providing a full range of accounting, audit, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an ambitious Trainee Accountant to join their growing finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in accounting without needing a university degree. The successful candidate will receive full training and support towards a recognised qualification such as AAT or ACCA, with clear progression opportunities into more senior accounting positions.
The Role
As a Trainee Accountant, you will gain exposure to all key areas of accounting and finance. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will be trained in bookkeeping, reconciliations, management reporting, and audit preparation.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Posting and reconciling ledger transactions (sales, purchase, and general)
- Assisting with bank reconciliations and journal entries
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Assisting with VAT returns and compliance reporting
- Preparing management accounts under supervision
- Providing administrative and analytical support to senior accountants
The Candidate
- No degree required – school leavers, college graduates, and career changers welcome
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Willingness to study towards a professional qualification (AAT / ACCA)
- Positive attitude, reliability, and strong attention to detail
- Basic awareness of UK accounting regulations and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards is essential
